New German Restaurant

Did you know that there is a new German Restaurant in Tierra Verde? Yes, friends of mine opened the "German Crepe House" just before Christmas. Great food, friendly service, and super atmosphere. It is located in the plaza right before "Billy's". Definitely something you should try!

Important! German Visa & Passport applicants!

I read recently, that as of Nov. 1, 2007, all German passports will carry a scanned fingerprint. All passport and visa holders need to apply for a new German passport or Visa at the Consulate in person! In the past, 70% of applications were handled via mail. This is no longer possible and visitors to the Consulate will rise substantially.

The number of counters and service personnel, however, remain the same. You should arrange for an appointment before coming to the German Consulate. Information on how to arrange for the appointment via a private service company can be found at www.miami.diplo.de or via phone information system 305-358-0290.

Once you received your written confirmation you are guaranteed to be seen at the time specified. No hours of waiting! No risk of being sent away!

If you show up without an appointment, the guards will suggest you come back with an appointment. Otherwise, you will face long waiting hours and may never be served.

Flug ueber St. Petersburg

Meine Schwester und Schwager haben mich ueber die Feiertage hier in Florida besucht. Es war und ist ein langer Traum meines Schwagers, einmal selbst zu fliegen, und nicht nur am Flugsemulator. Also habe ich mich mal umgehoert,  bin auf Bay Air School gestossen und habe ihm zu Weihnachten seinen Traum erfuellt. Eine halbe Stunde in einer nagelneuen Chesna mit Fluglehrer! Er durfte auch selber fliegen. Und alles unter 50.00$. In kuerze werde ich Photos laden, die Andy waehrend seines Flugs gemacht hat.
